In Bukovyna was released bilingual “Kobzar”

The largest contribution to the unique edition was done by famous Romanian poet Ion Kozmei, who for more than 20 years working on translations of Shevchenko's works in Romanian. According to many Ukrainian writers and poets these translations are the most successful and prove the talent of Romanian poet and translator.

Іоn Kozmei participated in the press-conference timed to release on Bukovyna Shevchenko’s “Kobzar”. Telling about itself, said, that he was born in Suceava county, and his fellow-villagers spoke on the Ukrainian dialect, where he graduated three classes of Ukrainian school. He currently teaches Latin in one of the high schools in Suceava and translates on Romanian genius works of Taras Shevchenko.

- Taras Shevchenko “Kobzar” in Ukrainian language I’ve first got in 1980 from my friend and Ukrainian poet Mykola Korsyuk who lives in Bucharest - told Ion Kozmei. I could read it thanks to graduated three classes of rural Ukrainian school. And in a few days decided that must translate Shevchenko into the language of Mihai Eminescu. Year after year he translated the works of the “Kobzar” by the Ukrainian-Romanian dictionary. Most of the time took the translation of the poem “Gaidamaky” but I hope that the work performed as it should be.
